September Sunsets
I love September for several reasons. First of all, I married my best friend in late September on a very humid, rainy day. The day began with a monsoon, literally. I remember stepping out of my apartment into about 2 inches of rain and lucky for me, I wasn't panicked. What can you do about it anyway, right? Rain doesn't bother me, not even on my wedding day. Thankfully for everyone else, the rain subsided for pictures and turned into a beautiful afternoon and evening.
Second reason I love September: my sister was born in September. She made me a big sister and even from the start we were the best of friends. She came into the world and I, in true big sister fashion, welcomed her by shoving my favorite stuffed dinosaur into her face. Aren't I nice? :) I love to share, what can I say?!
Thirdly, September ushers in fall and with it cooler weather. My favorite time of year. Football, campfires, smores, holidays, hoodies, snuggling, hot chocolate....I could go on and on. I love the crunch of dried leaves underfoot. Naked branches blowing in the breeze. Farmers harvesting the last of the summer crops, birds and other flying things making their great migratory journey. These are all things that I love about this time of year. I am especially looking forward to many evenings beside the fire pit with my love looking at the stars. Some of my favorite memories together are just sitting side by side outside, staring up into the black sky, while the neighboring flames lick at the dry branches.
For your viewing pleasure, I give you some September sunsets courtesy of my backyard. :)
