We are sooo excited to be adding these two furry friends to our family at the end of October.

September Sunsets
Second reason I love September: my sister was born in September. She made me a big sister and even from the start we were the best of friends. She came into the world and I, in true big sister fashion, welcomed her by shoving my favorite stuffed dinosaur into her face. Aren't I nice? :) I love to share, what can I say?!
Thirdly, September ushers in fall and with it cooler weather. My favorite time of year. Football, campfires, smores, holidays, hoodies, snuggling, hot chocolate....I could go on and on. I love the crunch of dried leaves underfoot. Naked branches blowing in the breeze. Farmers harvesting the last of the summer crops, birds and other flying things making their great migratory journey. These are all things that I love about this time of year. I am especially looking forward to many evenings beside the fire pit with my love looking at the stars. Some of my favorite memories together are just sitting side by side outside, staring up into the black sky, while the neighboring flames lick at the dry branches.
For your viewing pleasure, I give you some September sunsets courtesy of my backyard. :)

Brewing...
I thought I would be done with sunset surprises but every day there seems to be another one that just blows me away. I am so thankful to live in such a beautiful place and have such a gorgeous view right outside my door. Last night was no exception...I quickly took this picture and watched the spidering lightening just long enough to be in awe without getting drenched.

Spring pokes it's head up through winters cloak...
I love the fresh feeling that spring brings. While I love the colder weather, I enjoy the new life that inevitably comes with the rainy, warmer weather. This year the seasons have confused themselves with each other. We have had warm balmy days followed by snow and an ice storm which has made for some interesting human interaction as you can imagine. And as spring emerges, enjoy some images from the yard.

Laundry shelf
Yesterday, Nathan finally was able to put up the shelf I had asked him to install in our laundry area. I needed more room and the shelf that was already there is great but just a little bit too high. We got the wood a long time ago and I wanted to stain it but never had the time. On this rare 60 degree Sunday afternoon I took the opportunity to finish a project that had been started so long ago. ::side note: I'm trying to be better this year at finishing projects I start:: anyway, now that it is finally up, I wish we'd put it up sooner! I have so much more room and now my dryer isn't cluttered with the stuff I don't want to keep putting up and down.
